More Newsbytes The next Parish Council Meeting will be the annual parish meeting on Friday 9thMay to which all villagers are invited, followed by an AGM on May 12th New Trains The two tone grey ones seen whizzing though Haddenham (we are reliably informed by Christina Jeffery) are from The Wrexham and Shropshire Train company. Trains will not stop in Haddenham but are a new route from Wrexham, through Shrewsbury, Telford, and Wolverhampton to Birmingham which can be picked up from Banbury. Our Vicar has retired. The Rev Chris Denham, of the Haddenham Benefice, covering Haddenham, Cuddington, Aston Sandford and Kinsey has retired and it looks like we will be without a vicar for about 9 months. The assistant minister the Rev. John Race will be in charge in the meantime with the help of church members. Parminter's the butchers have won 2 gold awards, 2 silver and 2 bronze for their pies and sausages at the British Pig Executive South East regional road show at Ardingly, West Sussex, on March 27. Alan Rose is now a ‘Train’ Driver!
Those who know Alan Rose in his capacity as chairman of the
Haddenham Museum Trust and as author of many historical articles in
the Haddenham Chronicles, may be interested to know that he has
recently passed his training as a driver of Waddesdon Manor’s land
train and will be seen, on certain days, transporting visitors
between the main house and the stables. New
one day horticultural
courses are being held in the village at Manor Farm, thanks to
villager Carolyn Hollick and Bierton friend and gardenener Paula
Dorsett. They have organised for Hoticultural Society lecturuer
Ernie Bingham to talk and the first one was held in March. Three
more follow and 'Grow your own vegetables' (best varieties to gro
and how to grow them for all year round supply) in on 24 April and
'Secrets of the Potting Shed' on May 14 and ' garden design' on June
18. They will be held in the granary at Manor Farm 9.30 am till 3pm.
