Eating places ~ News Extra!
You may have noticed that the Green Dragon has closed, but... did you see the Thame Gazette over the bank holiday weekend? It has been selected as the next place for BBC's competition for people who want to run a Restaurant!!! Like they did for The Thatch in Thame (formerly the Old Trout) . Raymond Blanc will be involved as before. There is a notice on the door of the Green Dragon about it.
The Cafe on the Parade is still open even though it has been closed a lot recently. the Terrace Garden is usually open from 9.30am till about 3pm.
The planned new cafe at Fort End is looking like it might open soon. Simon from Little Italy at the Station says he hopes to open around the end of May but can't promise yet.

A section of hedge on Thame Road has been removed to provide footpath access to the station.

The next Parish Council Meeting will be the annual parish meeting on Friday 9thMay to which all villagers are invited, followed by an AGM on May 12th
New Trains The two tone grey ones seen whizzing though Haddenham (we are reliably informed by Christina Jeffery) are from The Wrexham and Shropshire Train company. Trains will not stop in Haddenham but are a new route from Wrexham, through Shrewsbury, Telford, and Wolverhampton to Birmingham which can be picked up from Banbury.
Our Vicar has retired.
The Rev Chris Denham, of the Haddenham Benefice, covering Haddenham, Cuddington, Aston Sandford and Kinsey has retired and it looks like we will be without a vicar for about 9 months. The assistant minister the Rev. John Race will be in charge in the meantime with the help of church members.

Parminter's the butchers have won 2 gold awards, 2 silver and 2 bronze  for their pies and sausages at the British Pig Executive South East regional road show at Ardingly, West Sussex, on March 27.

Alan Rose is now a ‘Train’ Driver! Those who know Alan Rose in his capacity as chairman of the Haddenham Museum Trust and as author of many historical articles in the Haddenham Chronicles, may be interested to know that he has recently passed his training as a driver of Waddesdon Manor’s land train and will be seen, on certain days, transporting visitors between the main house and the stables.
SNAKEMOOR. If you haven’t visited our Local Nature Reserve (near Haddenham and Thame Parkway station) for a while, don’t forget to go and enjoy the woodland spring flowers and the fritillaries in the meadow. An information board (donated by the Haddenham Beer Festival), which tells visitors what to look out for in the reserve, can be found by the meadow

New one day horticultural courses are being held in the village at Manor Farm, thanks to villager Carolyn Hollick and Bierton friend and gardenener Paula Dorsett. They have organised for Hoticultural Society lecturuer Ernie Bingham to talk and the first one was held in March. Three more follow and 'Grow your own vegetables' (best varieties to gro and how to grow them for all year round supply) in on 24 April and 'Secrets of the Potting Shed' on May 14 and ' garden design' on June 18. They will be held in the granary at Manor Farm 9.30 am till 3pm. Sponsored Walk ~ Haddenham Honeys! That is the name for 7 ladies who are going to take part in the Walk the Walk 'Moonwalk' this year.  This is a breast cancer charity event to raise awareness and monies with the aim to walk 26 miles through the streets of London from midnight on May 17th in our decorated Bras.  If anybody would like to sponsor us they can contact Shelley Smith on 01844 290171 shelleylouisesmith@hotmail.com or if you see us training around the village in our bright pink hats just show us your support.
New housing plans for 50 houses on the Spicer Hallfield site -
Outline plans and associated documents may be inspected at the Parish office (open Tuesdays and Thursdays 9am till 11.30am) or on AVDC website www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk - Ref 07/03507/AOP. Representations from villagers can still be made by villagers.
Lily Rose well known for her many contributions to village life, the methodist church, the schools, The Abbeyfield society, the CAB, Thame Inner Wheel and the cancer research shops, died recently (at 86) and a service of thanksgiving and remembrance was overflowing on Feb 7th.
New Community Police Officer Caroline Day has joined Sue Jones, replacing Rachel Hubbard who has moved to Cumbria.

It sometimes takes a while for an ambulance to reach Haddenham from a 999 call and this is where a trained community responder can help. Terrace Garden ~  The NEW coffee house & eatery on Banks Parade
It is looking good too. Well kitted out and comfortable, we enjoyed a sample meal on Monday of tagliatelle in a mushroom sauce and it was delicious. There should be something for everyone: Breakfast, lunch,  dinner or just a coffee, eat or take away.
